PMC is now making an active version of the IB2, available with extension bass cabinets as the IB2S XBD-A (the IB2S-Active cabinets are $34,000/pair, the IB2S-XBD-Active -- reviewed here -- are $58,000 for two master cabinets and two bass extension cabinets). Although the system cost may be eye-watering compared to other good loudspeakers, I’m going to stick my neck out and say that, in my opinion, these PMCs still represent value for money of a kind; they may be well beyond any speaker budget I’m likely to have access to, but their performance is quite extraordinarily good in a matter-of-fact, un-hyped way, while remaining immensely listenable. More » Today's Blog PSN Is Rockin' Into Summer By Clive Young Last summer, Pro Sound News and Pro Audio Review managing editor Fred Goodman released his latest album, The Last Days of Rock ‘n’ Roll, and we blogged about his video for the title track at the time. Now, proving you can't keep a Goodman down, he’s back with a new clip, ‘Rockin’ Into Summer,’ in honor of the Beach Boys’ 50th Anniversary. Goodman is no stranger to writing rockin' tunes; in fact, he's written several international hits, including ‘We Belong to the Night,’ which was a #1 record in Holland for Ellen Foley. Foley’s version of another Goodman tune, ‘Hideaway,’ is included on her Nightout CD. ‘Hideaway’ was also recorded by the Iron City Houserockers. Dozens of Goodman’s songs have been recorded and more than 100 have been published. His tune, ‘Didn’t It Look So Easy,’ was an R&B hit for the Stairsteps and can be found on their Greatest Hits CD.
