 VENUE 4.5 is a software update for the Avid S3L live sound system that offers a number of significant performance enhancements, including I/O sharing and automatic gain tracking of multiple networked systems; optimized surface operation and navigation through custom fader layouts, VCA and Group spill, and more; and the expansion of available sound-processing tools with support for 64-bit AAX DSP plug-ins. I/O sharing and gain tracking significantly reduce expense, complexity, and setup time, enabling engineers to share audio source feeds from one or more of the system's Stage 16 remote I/O boxes with two or more S3L Systems over Ethernet AVB—eliminating the need for passive splitters and costly heavy analog cabling.  The al-8 Line Array System is the second member of VUE Audiotechnik's al-Class, and joins the al-4 Subcompact Line Array System introduced last year. Like it's smaller sibling, the al-8 features advanced technologies such as beryllium compression drivers, Kevlar/Neodymium transducers, onboard SystemVUE networking, and full compatibility with VUEPoint beam forming technology.
The al-8 Line Array System is comprised of the al-8 acoustic elements and rack-mount V6 Systems Engine, which provides amplification, DSP and networking capabilities via the SystemVUE control software. The V6 also handles all management functions including speaker protection, system-optimized alignment of EQ, time and crossover functions.
Each acoustic element houses a pair of 8-inch LF transducers with large 3-inch voice coils for improved thermal performance. The LF transducers flank four 4-inch Kevlar/Neodymium mid-range units equipped with VUE's unique lateral acoustic shades. High frequencies are delivered by a pair of neodymium compression drivers with Truextent® beryllium diaphragms.
